KS1 and KS2

Little Lifesavers (KS1) and Young Lifesavers Award (KS2)

At Military Style Education (MSE), we believe that students of all ages should be given the knowledge, understanding and confidence of first aid training. The benefits are huge, not just in schools, but the local community and much further afield.

‘Little Lifesavers’ and ‘Young Lifesavers Award’ are certified first aid qualifications available for all primary aged children. Little Lifesavers Award is for KS1 and Young Lifesavers Award is for KS2. The content of both courses is in line with Ofsted’s requirement for differentiation across year groups.

The aim of this course is to give children the confidence and a step-by-step guide of how to handle different life-threatening emergency situations which can include the following:

  • Who the emergency services are and what they do
  • How to get help
  • What to say during an emergency phone call
  • Unconscious and breathing casualty
  • Recovery position
  • Unconscious and not breathing casualty
  • CPR
  • Choking
  • Burns
  • Breaks
  • Bleeds

Most of the governing bodies, including the Red Cross agree that first aid should be part of the school curriculum as too many people die because of a lack of knowledge in the most basic of first aid. With more and more children being given responsibilities of caring for the siblings at home the responsibility for welfare falls to them. This unique course will teach children one of the most important life skills, encourage care within the community and prepare them for numerous situations that can occur at any given time. By giving children the knowledge and understanding of how to deal with an emergency, and knowing all about the emergency services, who they are and what they do, will put every child’s mind at ease and feel less anxious.
